A medium to large semi-evergreen tree, usually growing 15–25 m tall. It is easily recognized by its broad umbrella-shaped crown, bipinnate leaves, and spectacular bright golden-yellow flowers borne in large terminal panicles during April to July. The fruits are flat, winged pods that turn reddish-brown to dark brown as they mature and often remain on the tree for several months.
यह दक्षिण-पूर्व एशिया और उत्तरी ऑस्ट्रेलिया का मूल निवासी वृक्ष है तथा भारत में व्यापक रूप से सजावटी, छायादार और सड़क किनारे लगाए जाने वाले वृक्ष के रूप में उगाया जाता है। इसके फूल मधुमक्खियों और तितलियों को आकर्षित करते हैं तथा यह शहरी हरित क्षेत्रों के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण वृक्ष है।
