Medium to large deciduous tree, growing up to 22 m tall with a broad, spreading crown. Young branches pubescent. Leaves 15-20 cm long: petiole gland near base; rachis with gland between uppermost pairs of pinnae; pinnae 4 pairs, 10 cm long; leaflets 12-18 pairs, obliquely oblong, obtuse at apex, glabrescent, with midrib near upper margin, 2.5×08 cm Panicle large, downy Heads 2 cm across; flowers sessile Calyx pubescent Corolla white, 4 times as long as calyx Pod brown, flat, 18 x 3 cm.

Source: Foi, efoi, powo, ifo,wfo, iNatइसके सुगंधित क्रीमी-सफेद पुष्प बड़े, रोयेंदार गुच्छों (panicles) में शाखाओं के सिरों पर खिलते हैं। प्रत्येक पुष्पगुच्छ लगभग 2 सेमी चौड़ा होता है। इसके फल चपटी, भूरी फलियाँ होती हैं, जिनकी लंबाई लगभग 18 सेमी होती है और इनमें कई बीज पाए जाते हैं।
यह प्रजाति दक्षिण भारत, म्यांमार और दक्षिणी चीन की मूल निवासी है। राजस्थान के शुष्क पर्णपाती वनों में यह सामान्य रूप से पाई जाती है। इसका पुष्पन अप्रैल से जून तथा फलन जून से मार्च तक होता है। इसकी मजबूत लकड़ी का उपयोग फर्नीचर, भवन निर्माण और कृषि उपकरणों में किया जाता है। यह एक नाइट्रोजन स्थिरीकरण करने वाला वृक्ष है, जो मिट्टी की उर्वरता बढ़ाने में भी सहायक होता है।
इसके वंश Albizia का नाम इटली के कुलीन फिलिप्पो देग्ली अल्बिज़ी (Filippo degli Albizzi) के सम्मान में रखा गया है। तथा जाति odoratissima लैटिन शब्द odoratus से बना है, जिसका अर्थ है "अत्यंत सुगंधित", जो इसके सुगंधित पुष्पों की विशेषता को दर्शाता है। -
