Flueggea leucopyrus is a dense, thorny deciduous to semi-evergreen shrub, usually 2–5 m tall. It is recognized by its zigzag spiny branches, small oval leaves, tiny greenish-yellow flowers, and white, round berries that ripen during the fruiting season. It is native to India, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia, and commonly grows in dry deciduous forests, scrublands, rocky slopes, and forest edges.
