  • A large deciduous tree that grows up to 30 m tall and is easily recognized by its dark grey to black bark, which develops deep cracks resembling crocodile skin. The leaves are simple, elliptic to obovate, thick, and clustered towards the ends of branches. Small greenish-white to yellowish flowers are borne in spikes during April to June, followed by winged, woody fruits that mature from November to February.
    Native to the Indian subcontinent and commonly occurs in dry and moist deciduous forests.
