Deciduous trees. Leaves suborbicular-ovate, obtuse-acute, to 8x5 cm. Heads usually solitary, shortly peduncled, 5 cm across Calyx limb short. Corolla creamy white, sparsely pilose within. Capsules in globose heads.
India, Burma, Sri Lanka. Commonly found in aravali & Vindhyachal.

यह एक मध्यम से बड़े आकार का पर्णपाती (पतझड़ी) वृक्ष है, जो सामान्यतः 10–20 मीटर तक ऊँचा होता है। इसकी पत्तियाँ गोल से अंडाकार होती हैं और शाखाओं पर आमने-सामने लगी रहती हैं। वर्षा ऋतु से पहले इसमें क्रीमी-सफेद रंग के छोटे-छोटे पुष्प गोल गेंद जैसे गुच्छों में खिलते हैं, जो मधुमक्खियों और अन्य परागणकर्ताओं को आकर्षित करते हैं। बाद में इन्हीं पुष्पों से छोटे-छोटे कैप्सूल फल बनते हैं।
यह वृक्ष भारत, म्यांमार (बर्मा) और श्रीलंका का मूल निवासी है। भारत में यह विशेष रूप से अरावली और विंध्याचल क्षेत्र के शुष्क पर्णपाती वनों में सामान्य रूप से पाया जाता है।
