Grewia tenax is a small, thorny deciduous shrub or small tree, usually growing 2–6 m tall. It is recognized by its greyish bark, slender spiny branches, small ovate leaves, yellow flowers, and round yellow to orange edible fruits. It is native to India, Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula, and commonly occurs in dry deciduous forests, scrublands, rocky hills, and arid regions.
