A medium to large deciduous tree, usually growing 10–20 m tall. It is recognized by its grey, rough bark, opposite pinnate leaves, fragrant creamy-white tubular flowers, and woody pear-shaped capsules that split open to release winged seeds. It is native to India and Sri Lanka, commonly found in dry deciduous forests.

इसके फूल मधुमक्खियों और अन्य परागणकर्ताओं के लिए महत्वपूर्ण हैं। इसके पंखदार बीज हवा द्वारा फैलते हैं, जिससे प्राकृतिक वन पुनर्जनन में सहायता मिलती है। यह वन्यजीवों को आश्रय प्रदान करता है।
ये हमारे जंगलों का स्थानीय और महत्वपूर्ण वृक्ष है जो धीरे धीरे जंगलों में कम होता जा रहा हैं। इसीलिए हमें स्थानीय वृक्ष प्रजातियों के रोपण और पौध तैयार करने पर अधिक जोर देना चाहिए। -
