The Mehendi plant, scientifically known as Lawsonia inermis, is a small, flowering shrub or tree that belongs to the family Lythraceae. It is the source of the natural dye known as henna, which has been used for centuries for body art, hair coloring, and even medicinal purposes.The plant typically grows to a height of 6–15 feet (2–5 meters) and thrives in arid and semi-arid climates. It has small, oval leaves that are rich in the natural pigment lawsone, responsible for its dyeing properties. Mehendi flowers are tiny, white or pale yellow, and highly fragrant, often attracting pollinators like bees.
