Barringtonia acutangula, also known as Indian Putat, has pendulous flowering stalks which are as long as an arm's length. Each stalk contains up to 60-70 flowers which are night-blooming. Small yet showy, these flowers are scarlet red with filamentous stamens. Fruit is small and buoyant which is well adapted for water dispersal.
